In a remarkable show of community engagement, officers of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Ajao Adewale, took to the streets of Abuja on Wednesday for a large-scale clean-up exercise.
The initiative was part of the 2025 National Police Day celebrations, which included a three-day community outreach program.
Speaking at the event, CP Adewale emphasized that the exercise was a demonstration of the police’s commitment to being an integral part of society.
“A clean and tidy environment discourages crime,” he noted, explaining that law enforcement has always played a role in environmental sanitation.
The clean-up activities extended across multiple divisions, with area commanders in locations such as Abaji and Gwagwalada leading similar efforts.
“Since this community hosts our command headquarters, we are leading by example,” Adewale stated, reinforcing the police force’s dedication to maintaining order both in law enforcement and in community welfare.
The event has been widely praised, with many residents commending the police for their proactive approach to fostering a cleaner and safer environment.
