Police Thwart Kidnapping Attempt in Ebonyi, Recover Victim’s Vehicle

Abakaliki—The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt at Mile 50 Layout in Abakaliki, the state capital, showcasing its commitment to tackling crime.

Speaking on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident and disclosed that officers recovered the victim’s vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, following the intervention.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to Ukandu, the distress call came in on March 30 at approximately 8:30 pm, reporting a suspected kidnapping near Mile 50 Layout.

“Immediately, our operatives were mobilized and dispatched to track the kidnappers. The suspects were spotted fleeing in an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number SKA 828 AA,” he stated.

The police trailed the vehicle to Tina Nweze Street, where the pressure from law enforcement forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim and flee the scene.

Vehicles Recovered, Investigation Underway

In addition to rescuing the victim, officers recovered both the suspect’s Toyota Corolla and the victim’s Toyota Sienna, which have been taken to the command headquarters for further investigation and rightful identification.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, reiterated the command’s unwavering dedication to ensuring public safety and protecting lives and property.
