Nearly 30 years after the tragic murder of Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla-Perez, her killer, Yolanda Saldívar, has once again been denied freedom.
A Texas parole board ruled against her early release, citing that she still poses a risk to society.
Denied Freedom After Three Decades
Saldívar, who was sentenced to life in prison for the 1995 murder of the beloved singer, became eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
However, her request was swiftly rejected by a three-member board. She will have another chance to apply in March 2030.

Selena, a rising star who won hearts with her powerful voice and vibrant personality, was just 23 years old when she was killed.
The shocking part? Her murderer was someone she once trusted—Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club and manager of her boutique business.

On March 31, 1995, the confrontation ended in tragedy when Saldívar shot Selena at a hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas.
