NAF Airstrikes Wipe Out Bandit Hideouts in Katsina, Kill Over 20

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken a major step in the fight against banditry, launching powerful airstrikes that destroyed criminal hideouts in Katsina State.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, targeted two notorious bandit leaders—Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga—resulting in the elimination of over 20 criminals.

How the Strike Unfolded

According to a statement by NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the airstrikes were based on intelligence pinpointing the exact locations of these bandit camps.

The precision strikes hit their fortified hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Ruwan Godiya Ward, in the Faskari Local Government Area.

“The Nigerian Air Force has delivered a devastating blow to banditry in Katsina State. Our precision airstrike successfully neutralized over 20 criminals, with more casualties reported in the surrounding rocky hills,” the statement read.

Why This is a Big Win for Security

The targeted bandit leaders, Gero and Riga, were key players in the region’s insecurity.

They provided shelter and support for criminal groups responsible for deadly ambushes, particularly along the Funtua-Gusau Road near Yankara and Sheme villages.

Their elimination is seen as a breakthrough in the ongoing military efforts to restore peace in Katsina and the North-West region. Security forces are still assessing the full impact of the strikes, but early reports suggest the operation has significantly weakened the bandits’ hold in the area.

This successful airstrike is part of Nigeria’s broader mission to dismantle bandit strongholds and make the country safer for its citizens.
