Troops Eliminate Three Insurgents, Seize Arms in Kaduna Operation
Kaduna — In a well-executed ambush, troops of the 1 Division, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 4, Operation Fasan Yamma, have neutralized three terrorists and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition near Ngwagi Hill in Gwagwada Community, off the Kaduna–Abuja highway.
The operation, which took place on Tuesday, was based on credible intelligence regarding insurgent movements in the area. The army deployed long-range fighting patrols, and by 5:30 p.m., soldiers successfully engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, forcing others to flee with gunshot wounds.
Weapons and Supplies Recovered
According to a statement from the 1 Division, Nigerian Army, the troops seized:
- Two AK-47 rifles
- Eight AK-47 magazines
- 374 rounds of 7.62mm by 39 special ammunition
- 88 rounds of 7.62mm by 54 NATO ammunition
- Medical supplies, clothing, and dry rations
- An Infinix mobile phone
Military Leadership Commends Troops
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, commended the troops for their bravery and combat efficiency.
He emphasized the importance of military-intelligence collaboration in tackling insecurity and urged soldiers to continue neutralizing criminal elements across their area of responsibility.
With continued military operations and intelligence-led strategies, security forces are determined to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace in troubled areas across the country.
