Osun Politics Heats Up: Adeleke, Oyetola’s Ex-Aide Clash Over Alleged Money Laundering and Contract Fraud

By NIGPOST Staff Writer

The Osun State Government and a former aide of ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola have locked horns over serious allegations of money laundering and contract violations.

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration has accused the previous government of breaching procurement laws by awarding contracts to close associates.

However, Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK), a former Commissioner under Oyetola, has dismissed the claims as political retaliation.

Government Alleges Misuse of Public Funds

According to Osun’s Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, the Oyetola-led administration sidestepped the Public Procurement Act of 2007 by awarding multimillion-naira contracts for Primary Health Centre renovations to political allies.

These projects, funded by a $20 million World Bank initiative, were allegedly distributed among cabinet members and associates without following due process.

Additionally, Alimi alleged that N1.5 billion was funneled through the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) without any tangible projects to show for it.

Oyetola’s Former Aide Fires Back

Responding to the accusations, BANIK labeled the allegations as a smear campaign following Adeleke’s failed attempt to install his own local government officials.

He defended his company’s involvement, claiming that contracts were awarded before he was appointed Commissioner and were fully executed according to specifications.

Similarly, former ALGON Chairman, Abiodun Idowu, denied any wrongdoing, stating that financial transactions were properly documented and overseen by relevant authorities, including the Auditor-General’s office.

A Brewing Political Storm

The accusations and counter-accusations signal deep political tensions in Osun State.

As investigations continue, the public remains eager to see if these claims will lead to legal actions or remain a battle of political rhetoric.
