Wike Visits Italy to Strengthen Agriculture and Vocational Education Ties

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Milan, Italy, for high-level discussions aimed at boosting agricultural development and vocational education in Nigeria.

According to a statement by Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, the minister departed Abuja on Tuesday night and landed in Milan at approximately 4:30 AM on Wednesday.

He was warmly received by Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed, Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires in Italy.

Key Meetings and Agenda

As part of his official visit, Wike will meet with Attilio Fontana, the President of the Lombardy Region, on Thursday to explore collaboration opportunities in agriculture, vocational training, and investment partnerships for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lombardy is Italy’s economic powerhouse, home to over 10 million people and ranked second in the European Union by GDP.

The discussions will focus on leveraging Italy’s advanced agricultural practices and modern vocational training systems to enhance economic development in Nigeria’s capital.

In addition to his meeting with Fontana, Wike will also engage with agribusiness investors and vocational education experts to attract new investments and strategic partnerships that will drive economic growth in the FCT.

  • Dr. Danlami Hayyo – FCT Mandate Secretary for Education
  • Lawan Geidam – Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Dr. Udo Samuel Atang – Senior Special Assistant on Administration
  • Barrister Benedict Daudu – Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation
