Norbert Young and Wife Share Emotional Journey Through Seven Years Without a Child
Veteran Nollywood actor Norbert Young and his wife, Gloria Young, have shared their deeply personal experience of living through seven years of childlessness in their marriage.
In an interview on Love Notes with Tope, the couple reflected on the emotional weight of that period. While Gloria admitted feeling the pressure, Norbert revealed that he never considered it a challenge, standing firm in his belief that everything happens in its own time.
Gloria: “I Felt It More Than He Did”
When asked about difficulties in their marriage, Norbert initially struggled to identify one, but Gloria quickly reminded him:
“I was childless for seven years, Norbert.”
Despite her struggles, Norbert maintained his stance:
“I didn’t see it as a challenge. I always told her to calm down. My own sister was married for 16 years without a child, and in the 17th year, she had one. That child is now a medical doctor. So, what’s the big deal?”
While Norbert stayed unshaken, Gloria admitted the societal pressure weighed heavily on her.
She recalled attending family gatherings where relatives didn’t say anything outright but made their feelings known through long, pointed stares at her stomach.
“Nobody in his family asked me, but at my own family events, some aunties would give me that long look—without saying a word—making sure I knew what they were thinking.”

Asked if anyone had ever pressured him about their lack of children, Norbert’s response was firm:
“Who born you well to ask me that? Nobody in my family did.”
Despite their different experiences, the couple weathered the storm together, proving that true love is not defined by societal expectations.
