Police Arrest Six for Vandalizing Public Infrastructure in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected of vandalizing public infrastructure in Kazaure Local Government Area.

Confirming the arrests in a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, said five of the suspects, aged between 28 and 53, were arrested for vandalism, while a 30-year-old was detained for allegedly receiving stolen items.

According to Shiisu, two suspects were caught on February 26 for allegedly damaging a streetlight, armoured cable wires, and individual conduit service wires in the Bandutsi area.

Another three were arrested on February 28 for allegedly conspiring to vandalize approximately 2,000 meters of high-tension wire in the Faru and Daba villages.

Receiver of Stolen Goods Identified

During interrogation, the suspects named 30-year-old Musa Yahaya from the Wajen Gabas area of Kazaure as an accomplice and receiver of the stolen items.

Police allege that Yahaya knowingly purchased government-owned cables despite being aware they were stolen.

All six suspects reportedly confessed to the crimes and have since been charged in court.
