Gunmen Abduct Two Benue University Students, Police Launch Investigation

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped two students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State. The incident occurred late Tuesday night outside the university campus.

A student of the institution, Ashar Lubem, told journalists on Wednesday that a total of four students were initially abducted, causing widespread panic among the student community.

“Some gunmen kidnapped four students outside campus yesterday evening. We have yet to hear from them. Everyone is in a panic mood because of the incident,” Lubem stated.

Police Confirm Kidnapping, Begin Investigation

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, confirmed the incident in a phone interview, stating that the police had received a report about two kidnapped students and had commenced an investigation.

“We received the information yesterday evening that two students were kidnapped. We have commenced an investigation, and further details will be provided soon,” Anene assured.

As of now, the identities of the abducted students and the motives behind the attack remain unclear. Authorities are working to gather more information and ensure the safety of the students.
