Army Chief Pledges to Crush Bandits and Secure Katsina
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has vowed to wipe out bandits terrorizing Katsina State and restore lasting peace to the region.

During his operational visit to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army at Natsinta Barracks, Katsina, Oluyede reassured the public that the military is fully committed to eradicating criminal elements disrupting lives and livelihoods.

Assessing Military Operations for Maximum Impact

Following a closed-door strategy meeting with senior officers, Oluyede explained that his visit aimed to evaluate the combat readiness of the Brigade and tackle any challenges affecting their operations.

“I’m here to assess the 17 Brigade’s operational performance, identify obstacles, and ensure quick solutions so they can effectively execute their duties,” he said.

While commending the Brigade’s ongoing efforts, he urged them to intensify their actions until every trace of banditry is eliminated from the state.

Strengthening Security – A National Priority

The Army Chief acknowledged the progress made so far in combating insecurity but emphasized that more work remains to ensure the safety of all residents.

“Defending Nigeria is our top duty. We must work relentlessly to eliminate these threats so citizens can live freely, the government can focus on development, and businesses can thrive without fear,” Oluyede affirmed.

He was warmly received at Natsinta Barracks by Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola, Commander of the 17 Brigade, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
