Abia LG Chairman Denies Resignation Rumors, Labels Viral Letter Fake
The Executive Chairman of Umunnochi Local Government Area (LGA), Abia State, Sunday Afurobi, has strongly refuted claims that he resigned from his position.
A viral resignation letter, allegedly signed by him and addressed to Governor Alex Otti, sparked confusion over the weekend, leaving local government staff and supporters in shock.
However, Afurobi has debunked the letter, calling it a forgery designed to mislead the public and cause unnecessary panic.
“This is nothing but the work of mischief-makers. I have not resigned, and I remain fully in charge of Umunnochi LGA,” he stated.
Legal and Security Actions Underway
The chairman revealed that his legal team and security agencies are already investigating the situation.
“My lawyers and the authorities are handling this matter. Those behind this forgery will face the consequences,” he assured.

Urging residents to ignore the fake news, Afurobi reassured the people of Umunnochi that he remains committed to his responsibilities.
“I urge everyone to stay calm and continue supporting the administration of Governor Alex Otti. Do not be swayed by falsehoods.”
As investigations continue, many are waiting to see if the perpetrators of this misinformation will be unmasked.
