Police Uncover Shocking Details in Yetunde Lawal’s Murder
The Kwara State community has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of Yetunde Lawal, a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
What started as an ordinary evening quickly turned into a nightmare. On Monday, February 10, 2025, Yetunde attended a naming ceremony, but midway through, she received a phone call, abandoned her meal, and left. That was the last time she was seen alive.
Her worried father, Ibrahim Lawal, reported her missing the next day at the Oja-Oba Police Division, setting off a desperate search for his daughter.
Disturbing Discovery After Police Investigation
Using phone tracking technology, detectives traced Yetunde’s last call to a man living in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin, who was later identified as the son of a prominent Islamic cleric in the Isalekoto community.
Initially, the suspect denied any involvement, but as police intensified their search, they uncovered Yetunde’s dismembered body hidden inside a bowl, along with tools used for the horrific act.
“At first, the suspect claimed she died from an asthma attack after he invited her over. But upon further search, police found her body in pieces, raising fears that this may not have been his first crime.”
Inside his room, investigators found a table equipped with dismemberment tools, suggesting the possibility of other victims.
Police Confirm Arrest of Suspect
The police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, stating:
“A case of a missing person was reported on February 11, 2025, by her father. Our detectives tracked her phone number, arrested a suspect, and upon further investigation, made a disturbing discovery.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation.”
The suspect is now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine if he had other accomplices or previous victims.
