PDP Warns Against Impostors, Says New Executive Yet to be Elected
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reaffirmed Dr. Tony Aziegbemi as the legitimate leader of its 10-member Caretaker Committee in Edo State, dismissing claims by individuals allegedly parading themselves as party executives.
In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, clarified that the party has yet to conduct elections for a new State Executive Committee.
He warned against unauthorized figures attempting to seize leadership positions within the state.
PDP Issues Strong Warning Against Unauthorized Leadership
Ologunagba stressed, “The PDP is aware of certain individuals who are illegally claiming party offices, issuing unauthorized directives, and attempting to convene meetings. These actions threaten the stability and unity of our party in Edo State.”
He emphasized that, in line with Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution, the Edo State Chapter remains under the appointed Caretaker Committee’s leadership until a new executive body is formally elected.

The PDP has reaffirmed that the following individuals constitute the legally recognized leadership in Edo State:
- Dr. Tony Aziegbemi – Chairman
- Hon. Henry Duke Tenebe – Secretary
- Hon. Harrison Omagbon
- Hon. Fidel Igenegbale
- Hon. Chris Nehikhare
- Tony Anenih Jnr.
- Arch. Bishop Anthony Okosun
- Hon. Segun Saiki
- Adezat Kuburat Ibrahim
- Augustine Edosomwan
PDP’s Message to Members in Edo State
The party issued a stern warning, stating that any individual illegally claiming membership in the Edo State PDP Executive would be treated as an impostor.
“The PDP has not elected a new Executive for Edo State. Anyone acting contrary to this directive faces disciplinary action, as stipulated by the party’s constitution (amended in 2017),” Ologunagba cautioned.
Call for Unity and Cooperation
The PDP urged its leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united and work alongside the Caretaker Committee to ensure stability within the party.
“We call on all party faithful in Edo to stand firm, be vigilant, and support the leadership structure in place. This will ensure a smooth transition when the time for elections arrives,” the statement concluded.
