El-Rufai Alleges Arrest Plot, Says He Won’t Be Intimidated
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has raised concerns about an alleged plan to arrest and detain him.
Despite the claims, he remains firm in his decision to stay in Nigeria, stating he has no intention of going into exile.
El-Rufai made these revelations on X (formerly Twitter) while responding to a supporter, Imran Wakili.
He accused unnamed individuals of attempting to force him out of the country through intimidation.
Currently in Egypt, El-Rufai confirmed that he plans to return to Nigeria before February 20, in time for the launch of former President Ibrahim Babangida’s memoirs.

The former governor shared that he has received threats through friends, family, and political associates, warning him to leave Nigeria.
However, he insists that silence is no longer an option.
“The arrest, detention, and torture of political opponents is nothing new. I have been arrested and detained three times before for speaking against past administrations,” he said.
He added that he fears no one but Allah and will continue to stand by his principles.
El-Rufai is currently at odds with President Bola Tinubu’s supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He recently criticized the party for its lack of internal democracy, highlighting that key party organs haven’t met in two years.
With tensions rising, it remains to be seen how the political landscape will respond to El-Rufai’s claims.
