Pastor Adeboye Calls for Release of Arrested TikToker, Denies Involvement

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has spoken out against the arrest of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as SeaKing.

The young content creator was taken into custody after criticizing Adeboye’s call for a 100-day fast for Nigeria.

Adeboye: “I Had No Hand in His Arrest”

In a recently surfaced video, Pastor Adeboye made it clear that he had no involvement in SeaKing’s arrest. He expressed surprise at the situation and urged authorities to release the TikToker immediately.

“I heard that someone insulted me because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him. I didn’t ask anyone outside RCCG to fast—only my children. But God said it would happen. Some people got angry and arrested him. Haaa! Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy.”

What Led to the Arrest?

SeaKing had posted a controversial TikTok video in December 2024, where he harshly criticized Pastor Adeboye’s fasting directive, calling it “stupid.”

This angered a religious group, the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, which filed a petition with the Lagos State Police Command. His arrest quickly sparked widespread outrage on social media.

Legal Battle Looms

In response, Deji Adeyanju, one of SeaKing’s legal representatives, applauded Adeboye’s call for his release and announced plans to take legal action against those behind the arrest.

“That is how pastors should behave. Any pastor who arrests someone for criticism is an unbeliever. But the Nigerian police are jobless.

How can someone file a petition when he is not even the one defamed? SeaKing should sue the petitioner, as he had no legal standing to act in the first place.”

Adeyanju also noted that the case now depends on how the police handle the situation, citing their history of impunity.

What Happens Next?

With Pastor Adeboye publicly disowning the arrest and legal action looming, all eyes are on the Nigerian police and whether they will release SeaKing or proceed with prosecution.
