Kidnappers Demand ₦250 Million for Release of Ex-NYSC DG Tsiga
Gunmen who abducted retired General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have demanded a ₦250 million ransom for his release.
A family source confirmed that the kidnappers established contact late last night to communicate their demand.
How the Abduction Happened
The incident took place on Wednesday in Tsiga village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Armed assailants stormed Tsiga’s residence, wounding two residents and mistakenly killing one of their own in the chaos.
Security Agencies Respond
The Katsina Police Command has confirmed the abduction, assuring the public that security forces are actively working to ensure Tsiga’s safe return.
“Our operatives responded swiftly, but the attackers had already fled with their hostage,” said Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq.
He added that the police are intensifying efforts in collaboration with security agencies and local stakeholders to track down the kidnappers.
The police recently arrested 45 suspects for various crimes across the state, signaling a broader crackdown on criminal activities.

As the search continues, residents have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities. Security agencies remain committed to apprehending the culprits and securing Tsiga’s release.
