Katsina Police Crush Bandit Operations, Rescue 85 Victims

The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its fight against crime, successfully neutralizing 11 suspected bandits and rescuing 85 kidnapped victims in January 2025.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Aliyu, during a press briefing, where he outlined the command’s achievements in tackling insecurity across the state.

Major Arrests and Recoveries

According to DSP Aliyu, the police also recovered 213 stolen animals and arrested 45 suspects linked to 52 major crimes. Among those apprehended were:

4 suspected kidnappers

6 suspects charged with culpable homicide

7 suspected armed robbers

3 alleged informants aiding bandits

32 others involved in various offenses, including robbery, rape, and vandalism

Furthermore, security forces seized critical items used in criminal activities, including:

4 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition

3 motorcycles

5 vandalized solar streetlights

2 machetes and 2 sharp knives

Vandalized armored cables and a digger

Police Commitment to a Safer Katsina

DSP Aliyu emphasized that these successes reflect the relentless efforts of law enforcement officers in maintaining peace in Katsina.

“Our achievements in January show our unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property. We appreciate the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Katsina State Government for their support,” he stated.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, to strengthening partnerships with the community and stakeholders to sustain effective crime-fighting strategies.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Insecurity

As part of broader security measures, the Katsina Police Command continues to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response strategies to curb banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
