A Major Blow to Terrorism in Zamfara
The fight against terrorism in Nigeria took a major step forward as troops eliminated two notorious terrorist kingpins, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, in Zamfara State.
The operation, which took place on the night of February 6, 2025, was confirmed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, during the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja.
According to General Musa, the deaths of these two high-profile terrorists have left Bello Turji, another top terror leader, in a state of confusion as the military continues to close in on his network.
How the Operation Unfolded
The military, under Operation Fansan Yanma and the ongoing Operation “Show No Mercy,” launched a coordinated attack on the terrorists in Ruwan Dawa village, Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara.
Backed by intelligence reports, troops stationed at Hannu Tara camp, along the Magami–Dan Sadau Highway, worked alongside local vigilantes to strike at the terrorists.
What Was Recovered?
During the fierce gunfight, six terrorists were neutralized, including Gwammade and Shehu. Security forces recovered:
✅ Three motorcycles
✅ Several firearms
Who Were the Terrorists?
Kachalla Gwammade was a known terror commander who operated from Chabi Village, northeast of Maru. He was closely linked to Kachalla Sani Black, a feared warlord who was also recently eliminated in military operations.
Strengthening National Security
Speaking at the conference, General Musa emphasized the need for continued collaboration among Nigeria’s security agencies to ensure that terrorist activities are completely eradicated.
He encouraged the Armed Forces to maintain a unified front, stressing that joint operations and intelligence sharing are key to maintaining security in the country.
“The challenges ahead may be tough, but with unity and determination, we will overcome them,” General Musa assured.
The Nigerian military remains committed to protecting citizens and ensuring peace across the nation.
