Former Super Eagles left-back Taye Taiwo has been inducted into Olympique Marseille’s Hall of Fame, solidifying his legacy as one of Nigeria’s finest defenders.
Taiwo, who represented Nigeria 54 times between 2004 and 2011, scored five goals for the national team and played a crucial role in multiple international tournaments.
Taiwo’s European Football Journey
Marseille was Taiwo’s first European club, where he spent six years, making 271 appearances, scoring 25 goals, and providing 23 assists.

His career later took him to AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the English Premier League, and other top European clubs.
A Legacy Recognized
Following his retirement in 2019, Taiwo remained in France. His induction into the Marseille Club of Legends places him alongside notable footballers like Samir Nasri, Mamadou Niang, and Paulo Cezar.
He joins a select group of Nigerian players who have represented Marseille, including Wilson Oruma, Joseph Yobo, and Victor Agali.
