UNILORIN Elevates 51 Academics to Professors and Readers
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced the promotion of 51 academic staff members, elevating 20 to the rank of Professor and 31 to Readers.
The decision was ratified by the Governing Council following recommendations from the university’s Appointments and Promotions Committee, as presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), during a council meeting held on January 27, 2025.
Notable Promotions
Among the newly promoted professors is Ismail Adua, who has made history as Nigeria’s first Professor of International Aviation Law. Similarly, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, has become UNILORIN’s first Professor of Veterinary Medicine. The university’s librarian, Kamaldeen Omopupa, was also elevated to a professorial rank.
