Kano Businessman’s Daughter Kidnapped After ₦8 Million Ransom Payment

Tragedy struck in Garo town, Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, as unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, invaded the home of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Auwal, and abducted his daughter, Zainab, despite collecting ₦8 million from the family.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the heavily armed assailants, numbering about 10, stormed the residence.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that three of the attackers carried guns, while the others wielded various weapons.

“They broke into the house, gathered the entire family in one place, and created an atmosphere of fear,” a source told Vanguard.

“The head of the family pleaded for his family’s safety and handed over ₦8 million, but the kidnappers still took the eldest daughter, a secondary school graduate, before fleeing the scene.”

The family has yet to hear from the kidnappers regarding Zainab’s whereabouts, leaving them in anguish and uncertainty.

This harrowing event comes just 48 hours after another tragic incident in Kano, where Atiku Mu’azu, a former Gombe State Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the State Board of Internal Revenue, was abducted and killed after his assailants collected ₦10 million from his family.

These incidents have left residents in shock and fear, with many calling for improved security measures in the region.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, was unavailable for comments.
