Trump Administration Orders Termination of Diversity Staff in US Federal Agencies

The Trump administration has directed federal agencies to begin firing staff members working in diversity-related positions.

This follows their placement on paid leave earlier in the week. This move marks a continuation of President Donald Trump’s right-wing policies since his return to the White House.

New Memo to Terminate Diversity Programs

A memo from the US Office of Personnel Management instructed all federal agencies, departments, and commissions to terminate roles related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEI, DEIA) and “environmental justice” within 60 days.

Environmental justice, as defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), involves fair treatment of all individuals in federal decision-making processes.

Trump’s Opposition to DEI Policies

During his campaign, Trump criticized DEI initiatives, claiming they discriminated against white men.

He also denounced gender diversity and policies supporting transgender individuals. His administration has already revoked affirmative action in federal contracts and promised to enforce the recognition of only two genders.

Federal Agencies Required to Act

Earlier this week, Trump ordered federal agency leaders to submit plans for reducing DEI office staff. His administration also directed officials to identify any disguised DEI programs.

This directive aligns with Trump’s broader goal of dismantling progressive policies, which he views as a threat to traditional American values.
