Ogun State Rewards Math Teacher with N5 Million and Bungalow for Global Recognition

In a remarkable gesture of appreciation for educational excellence, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has awarded ₦5 million and a bungalow to Kayode Adewale, a Mathematics teacher recently shortlisted among the top 50 educators globally for the prestigious $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

Kayode Adewale, known for his innovative teaching methods that blend technology and the local language, has earned international recognition for his transformative approach to education.

He currently teaches at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School in Ogun State and is a proud alumnus of the Tai Solarin University of Education, a leading institution for teacher training in Nigeria.

The Global Teacher Prize, an initiative by the Varkey Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, celebrates educators who make extraordinary contributions to transforming lives through education.

Governor’s Statement
Governor Abiodun, in a statement on January 22, 2025, highlighted Adewale’s achievements as a source of pride for the state, often regarded as Nigeria’s education capital. He stated, “We are immensely proud to celebrate Kayode Adewale, who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to educational excellence.

His humility and dedication to uplifting his community are truly commendable.”

To honor his outstanding contributions, Adewale was named Ogun State Education Ambassador.

The governor also announced the reward of ₦5 million and a bungalow in any location of Adewale’s choice within the state, further emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering excellence in education.

Past Achievements
Adewale had previously won the Best Teacher Award in Ogun State in 2020. His consistent dedication to nurturing young minds and innovative teaching techniques has now brought him global acclaim.
