Tinubu Celebrates Nigeria Customs Comptroller-General Adeniyi on His 59th Birthday
President Bola Tinubu has extended his warm congratulations to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on the occasion of his 59th birthday, celebrated on January 19, 2025.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, Tinubu highlighted Adeniyi’s commendable leadership since assuming office in June 2023.
The statement, titled “President Tinubu Celebrates Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi on His 59th Birthday,” acknowledged Adeniyi’s efforts in modernizing the Customs Service through digitalization, automation, and a focus on professionalism.
Tinubu emphasized how these initiatives have enhanced the morale and performance of Customs officers.
Achievements Highlighted by Tinubu
The President praised Adeniyi for exceeding revenue targets, promoting trade facilitation, and implementing innovative anti-smuggling strategies.
These strategies include empowering youth with alternative skills, engaging with traditional institutions, and fostering better communication and respect among stakeholders.
Tinubu also noted Adeniyi’s success in combating illegal activities, such as the notable seizures of arms and ammunition, and the revival of the Comptroller-General’s Annual Conference to evaluate and improve operations.
The President further lauded Adeniyi’s 30-year experience in service, attributing it to the significant progress seen under his leadership.
Tinubu prayed for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for the Customs boss in his service to the nation.
