Multiple-Vehicle Crash Leaves Nine Injured on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: Full Report

A tragic incident unfolded along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving nine motorists injured after a series of collisions on the Sagamu section of the road.

The accident, which occurred on Saturday night at around 2 p.m., involved a Volvo truck, a Honda Jeep, and a Mazda bus, all of which were left severely damaged after the crash.

According to reports from the Ogun State Police Command, the Volvo truck, driven by Ajibola Owoniyo, an employee of Nestlé Company, was responsible for the crash.

The truck, which had just exited the premises of Advanced International Merchant Nigeria Limited, made an abrupt entry onto the expressway without properly assessing oncoming traffic.

This led to the disastrous collision with both the Honda Jeep and the Mazda bus, which were traveling from Lagos toward Ibadan.

What Happened at the Scene: The force of the collision caused the drivers of the Honda Jeep and Mazda bus to lose control of their vehicles, causing both to crash into the truck’s driver-side door.

As a result, the driver of the Volvo truck, along with the driver of the Mazda bus, seven passengers in the Mazda, and one individual in the Honda Jeep, were all injured.

Immediate Medical Attention: All victims were quickly rushed to Live Well Hospital and Owokoniran Private Hospital in Sagamu for urgent medical care.

The injuries varied in severity, but thankfully, emergency responders were able to get them to the hospitals for treatment in time.

Following the incident, traffic officers arrived at the scene to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.

Fortunately, the road was cleared, and vehicles were able to continue their journey without significant delay.

This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and caution while driving.

It serves as a call for all road users to remain vigilant, especially on busy highways like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
