Enzo Maresca voiced his disappointment over Chelsea’s inability to capitalize on numerous opportunities, which led to a late equalizer by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Despite dominating the first half and creating several chances, Chelsea failed to add to Cole Palmer’s 14th-minute opener.
The Blues managed 15 shots but only one on target, while Palace, who improved in the second half, made their late push count with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s equalizer in the 82nd minute.
“We created enough chances in both halves to win, but football requires clinical finishing, otherwise the game is always open,” Maresca explained.
“Especially in a stadium like this, where any transition or set-piece boosts their energy. Despite conceding, I think we did enough to win.”
Maresca went on to emphasize the importance of clinical finishing: “Had we been more clinical, it could have been 2-0, and the game would have likely been decided.”
The 1-1 draw means Chelsea’s winless run extends to four matches, and their position in the Premier League top-four race becomes even more congested as they fall further behind leaders Liverpool.
