Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has hailed Senator John Azuta Mbata, former representative of Rivers East Senatorial District, as a man of unwavering integrity and courage in his defense of Rivers State. Fubara’s remarks came during a visit to Senator Mbata’s residence in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on the occasion of his 65th birthday, celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2025.
Governor Fubara expressed admiration for Mbata’s steadfastness, highlighting his ability to stand for truth in the face of challenges. He emphasized that it takes a person of real integrity, not just one who listens to public opinions, to take a stand for what is right. Fubara said, “It takes a man who has integrity, not just the one who listens to public talk, but the real one to stand on the path of truth, and you have shown that in this state. We deeply appreciate your support.”
He assured Senator Mbata that the state government would continue to collaborate with him for the betterment of Rivers, pledging their mutual commitment to achieving greater progress.
Fubara also described Mbata as a rare individual who, despite his inherited wealth and hard-earned success, remains humble. He noted that those who interact with Mbata always have positive things to say about him. The Governor also prayed for continued good health and blessings for the celebrant, likening his long-standing respect and honor to that of biblical figures.
The birthday celebration included cutting of the birthday cake, as well as intercessory prayers led by Prince Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Governor Fubara ended his tribute by wishing Mbata a long, healthy life and a continued legacy of excellence.
The event served as a heartfelt celebration of a political figure who has earned respect not only through his leadership but through his consistent support for Rivers State and its people.
