In a heartwarming tradition to kick off the new year, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, extended her love and support to the first babies born in 2025 at the Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja. Represented by Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, the First Lady shared thoughtful gifts and heartfelt prayers with the families of the newborns.
The first baby of the year, a beautiful girl named Favour Stephen Odion, was born at 12:27 am, weighing 3.6 kg. Just a few hours later, the first boy, Zimchikachim Ejiofor, arrived at 7:14 am, weighing 3 kg. Both families were overwhelmed with joy as they received care packages filled with essential items, nutritional support, and cash gifts from the First Lady’s team.
Through Mrs. Shettima, the First Lady encouraged the new mothers to prioritize exclusive breastfeeding, timely immunization, and post-natal care to ensure the well-being of their children. “These children are our future,” she said, “and with proper care, they will grow to lead Nigeria to greater heights.”
Dr. Rosemary Nwokorie, the acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, applauded the First Lady’s efforts, acknowledging her dedication to supporting vulnerable groups and improving healthcare access for women and children.
