In a heartbreaking tale of betrayal and resilience, a 19-year-old student of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Usman Tijani, is fighting for his life after being lured to a burial ground and attacked by his close friend, Abdulmuqeet Musari.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State. Usman, who also runs a Point of Sale (POS) business, was deceived into following Abdulmuqeet to the secluded location, where he was robbed of ₦200,000 and left with life-threatening injuries.
A Family’s Anguish
Narrating the devastating experience, Usman’s aunt, Zainab Avosuahu, called for justice for her nephew:
> “This betrayal has shattered us. My nephew trusted someone he called a friend, only to be lured into the bush, robbed, and nearly killed. Right now, he’s undergoing surgery in Lokoja. We are praying for his recovery and demanding justice for this monstrous act.”
Usman was discovered hours later, clinging to life, in the New Zango area of Adavi. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where medical teams are working tirelessly to save him.
Justice on the Horizon
The suspect, Abdulmuqeet Musari, initially fled the scene but was later apprehended in Ekiti State through the coordinated efforts of local vigilantes and security operatives.
Suleiman Abdulrazaq Acheneje, Senior Special Assistant to the Adavi Local Government Chairman, praised the swift action taken by the authorities:
> “The collaborative efforts of the local security team and intelligence units ensured the suspect’s capture. Such swift responses are critical in ensuring justice is served.”
