As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former governor of Kano State, has made a bold prediction: the All Progressives Congress (APC) will struggle to gather even 15,000 votes in Kano. This comes on the heels of the NNPP’s remarkable performance in the 2023 elections, where it relegated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the same fate.
Speaking to delegates from the Kano North Senatorial District at his residence on Miller Road, Kwankwaso expressed his unwavering commitment to diminishing APC’s influence in the state. He emphasized the importance of dedication and grassroots mobilization to ensure the NNPP continues to dominate Kano’s political scene.
“Just like we made PDP irrelevant in Kano, reducing them to only 15,000 votes, we will work tirelessly to do the same to APC by 2027. It’s time to take control and secure our future,” Kwankwaso said with confidence.
A Renewed Spirit of Loyalty
The meeting also saw NNPP delegates reaffirm their loyalty to Kwankwaso, distancing themselves from Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who was removed following allegations of opposing Kwankwaso’s leadership.
Abdul Bichi, who led the delegation, said, “We are here to show our unwavering loyalty to our leader. We are not leaving the party, and we stand firmly with Kwankwaso.”
Bichi clarified that their decision to part ways with the former SSG stemmed from his suspension and his alleged attempts to undermine the party’s unity.
