A Nigerian court has set a date for February 11, 2025, to hear objections in a defamation case involving the Inspector-General of Police (IGP). The case is centered around allegations that eight leaders from the Umuona community in Anambra State defamed Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme, a former traditional ruler.
Earlier, the IGP had requested to withdraw the defamation charge to allow more time for investigation, but the court denied this request. The court stressed that the IGP must follow certain procedures before such a withdrawal could be considered.
