The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has celebrated the approval by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for unscheduled flight operations at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado Ekiti. This approval, which allows private jets and chartered flights to operate between 6 AM and 6 PM from December 15, 2024, to June 15, 2025, has been hailed as a timely and significant development.
APC spokesperson Segun Dipe praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for delivering on his promises, calling the approval a “Christmas gift” for the state. He emphasized that the airport’s progress, despite initial skepticism, reflects the governor’s commitment and determination. Dipe also expressed pride in Ekiti’s achievement, noting that it was once considered unlikely for the state to have an airport but that the governor’s efforts made it a reality.
Governor Oyebanji’s spokesman, Yinka Oyebode, had previously announced that this approval is a precursor to potential commercial flight operations in the future. This accomplishment is seen as a major milestone for the state, offering both logistical and economic opportunities.
