The team’s chartered plane was unexpectedly diverted to a smaller airport as the pilot was nearing Benghazi Airport on Sunday night.

Since then, the Nigerian delegation has been left without food, beds, and security.

According to OgaNla Media, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for Tuesday is in danger of being played.

“I’m not sure if the game will be held tomorrow or in this window.

“The players are sick and exhausted

The Nigerian government has been contacted and plans are ongoing to provide security for the team.

“It is now a security issue. The team has been held hostage for hours,” OgaNla Media wrote on X.
