The Presidency has dismissed claims suggesting that France is taking over Nigeria’s mining sector. Speaking through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Strategic Communications, Akin Rotimi, the government clarified that no foreign power, including France, controls or dominates the nation’s mineral resources.
Rotimi emphasized that the Nigerian government remains firmly in charge of its mining sector and is committed to safeguarding the nation’s interests. He further explained that while Nigeria is open to international partnerships to boost the sector, these collaborations are based on mutual respect and benefits.
This clarification comes amid concerns raised over foreign influence in the sector, but the Presidency insists that such fears are baseless.
