The Ekiti State Police have confirmed that human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, is currently in their custody. This information was released by Police spokesman Mr. Sunday Abutu in a statement from Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, last night.
Farotimi’s arrest, which occurred yesterday morning, had raised concerns over his whereabouts. The police explained that Farotimi is being investigated due to a petition accusing him of defamation and cyberbullying.
The statement from the Police reads: “The Ekiti State Police Command would like to inform the public that Mr. Dele Farotimi is under investigation following a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State, regarding allegations of defamation of character and cyberbullying.”
