In a significant victory against terrorism, troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, eliminated Abubakar Shekau, a Boko Haram commander, along with four associates in Yobe State.
The clash occurred during a nighttime attack on the Sabon Fagi community in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area.
Backed by local vigilantes, the troops successfully repelled the attack at 11:00 p.m., overpowering the insurgents with superior firepower.
Several weapons were recovered, while fleeing militants left behind a trail of defeat.
Shekau, named after the late notorious Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau by his father as a sign of admiration, was a prominent figure in the terror group.
