In a heart-stopping incident, a couple narrowly escaped death in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after a container fell from an articulated vehicle and crushed their car.
The accident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon near the Ogbomoso High School area, has left witnesses in shock.
According to reports, the container, which was being transported by a trailer with registration number Nasarawa JZ 101 ZA, slipped and landed on the car, bearing Lagos State number plates.
Fortunately, the couple had just parked their vehicle and stepped out to buy some items moments before the accident occurred.
Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to a reckless bus driver who was distracted by his mobile phone.
The trailer driver, in a bid to avoid a head-on collision with the bus, lost control, causing the large container to detach and crash onto the parked car.
“It was a miraculous escape,” an eyewitness recounted.
“The couple had just left the car to purchase items near a scrap metal yard when the container fell.
Thankfully, no one was in the vehicle at the time.”
As of the time of this report, the crushed car remained trapped under the container, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
This incident highlights the need for stricter road safety measures and the importance of responsible driving to avoid such life-threatening accidents.
