Over 200 Vehicles Missing Under Obaseki’s Administration – Okpebholo’s Recovery Team Promises Action

The committee established by Governor Monday Okpebholo to recover assets from the previous administration has revealed that over 200 vehicles belonging to the Edo State Government are currently missing.

Chairman of the recovery committee, Kelly Okungbowa, disclosed this information during a press briefing on Friday in Benin City, stating that three vehicles have already been recovered from a private residence.

The recovered vehicles include one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses.

During the search, the committee also found palliatives, including bags of 10kg and 25kg rice and garri, which were meant for distribution to the citizens of Edo State.

Okungbowa urged the public to assist with further information, assuring that whistleblowers would be generously rewarded.

“We were inaugurated just yesterday, and within 24 hours, we’ve made progress by recovering three vehicles.

We are confident in our ability to recover all missing government assets and urge anyone with information to come forward,” he stated.

The committee emphasized that these vehicles are public property, and it is illegal for private individuals to hold on to them.

Okungbowa also called on former government officials to return any vehicles still in their possession within 48 hours.

“We are committed to recovering all government vehicles, and our operations are supported by security agencies, with no resistance so far,” he added.

The committee is continuing its search, following up on leads that have come from public tips.
