In a bold political move ahead of the 2027 elections, the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu, endorsing him for a second term in office.
Oyo APC Endorses Tinubu’s Second Term Bid
At a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Ibadan on Tuesday, leaders of the Oyo APC expressed their collective readiness to work for the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027. The gathering, which brought together members of the State Executive Committee and party chairmen from all 33 local government areas, culminated in a unanimous declaration of support.
Why Oyo is Backing Tinubu
According to the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, the endorsement is based on the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the transformative potential Tinubu’s leadership holds for Nigeria and the African continent. Abas emphasized the president’s commitment, courage, and patriotic approach to governance since assuming office.

Abas pointed out that the progress made under Tinubu in under two years is commendable and worth building upon. He noted that President Tinubu has displayed a clear understanding of the country’s challenges and possesses the strategic blueprint to overcome them. “He deserves more time to complete the critical task of repositioning Nigeria,” Abas stated.
Defections Strengthen just Nationwide
Highlighting the wave of defections into the APC from opposition parties, Abas remarked that many Nigerians are now identifying with the president’s vision and are ready to embrace national development over partisan interests. He insisted that Oyo APC must not lag behind in this political alignment.
Party Executives Stand United Behind Tinubu
The party’s Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite; Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare; Woman Leader, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun; and Youth Leader, Prince John Aremu, all echoed their chairman’s stance. They praised Tinubu’s achievements and lauded the efforts of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for strengthening the party nationwide.

The Oyo APC leaders pledged to intensify their grassroots mobilization and ensure that Tinubu secures overwhelming support from the state in the 2027 presidential elections.
