2027 Elections: Gov Bala Mohammed’s Camp Rallies Support After Atiku’s Visit to Obasanjo

Barely 24 hours after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the political camp of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has ramped up efforts to push his 2027 presidential ambition.

Although Atiku insisted his visit to Obasanjo had nothing to do with the 2027 elections, political insiders suggest the meeting was part of a broader strategy to form a united opposition ahead of the next general elections.

Atiku’s Political Moves and the 2027 Elections

Atiku, who was the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2023, has been actively working to unite the opposition.

He has reportedly joined forces with other political heavyweights, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former minister Rotimi Amaechi, in a bid to build a formidable coalition.

Meanwhile, Governor Bala Mohammed’s presidential ambition has become clearer, with the governor previously stating he would only step down if former President Goodluck Jonathan decided to contest.

Bala Mohammed’s Growing Momentum

Following Atiku’s visit to Obasanjo, Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, emphasized the governor’s credibility as a presidential contender.

He highlighted Mohammed’s youth-centered leadership, calling it a model for inclusive governance and sustainable progress.

Speaking to journalists, Bello noted that Governor Mohammed has set a national precedent by appointing more youths to key government positions than any other governor in Nigeria.

“The governor is committed to building an administration that reflects the energy and innovation of the youth.

No other government in the country has given young people as many opportunities to serve in high-level positions as Governor Bala Mohammed’s,” Bello stated.

2027 Elections: A Call for Youth Support

Bello urged Nigerian youths to rally behind Mohammed’s vision, stating that his leadership style prioritizes young people’s interests and opportunities.

“For years, youths have clamored for leaders who genuinely support them. Governor Bala Mohammed has walked the talk, and now is the time for young Nigerians to back him at the national level,” Bello said.

As the 2027 general elections approach, the political landscape continues to shift, with key players maneuvering for strategic alliances and party tickets.

Whether Governor Bala Mohammed will secure the PDP’s presidential ticket remains a significant question.
